Agra Bride Allegedly Demands Rs 90 Lakh to Lift Veil as Marriage Turns Into Extortion Conspiracy
A shocking extortion case has emerged from Agra where a bride, Kalpana, allegedly demanded Rs 90 lakh from her husband, Gaurav, to lift her wedding veil. The dispute escalated into death threats, jewelry theft, and a conspiracy involving matchmaker Munna Master. Following an attempt to sabotage a PNG connection and lock the family away, Uttar Pradesh Police are now investigating this harrowing tale of a marriage turned into a legal battle.
The situation escalated as Kalpana, alongside her brothers, allegedly seized her own jewelry and her mother-in-law’s jewels under the pretext of wanting to wear them. Throughout the brief period of their cohabitation, Kalpana pressured Gaurav and his family to "willingly" transfer Rs 90 lakh to her father, Narendra, and her brothers, Vikas and Rahul. By the first week of July, the bride departed for her parental home, issuing a final ultimatum to Gaurav’s family to pay the amount or "be ready to die." Since her departure, her family has allegedly issued threats to burn Gaurav’s relatives alive. On September 3, the coercion became documented when Rahul shared his father’s bank details with Muskan, explicitly instructing her to transfer the desired funds.
The hostility reached a peak on March 25 when Kalpana, her father, her brothers, and a matchmaker named Munna Master arrived unannounced at Gaurav’s residence. The group allegedly locked the family inside the house, hurling verbal abuse and issuing death threats while setting a two-hour deadline for the arrangement of the Rs 90 lakh. During the ordeal, Gaurav’s 67-year-old father, Ummed Singh—a visually impaired heart patient—was subjected to targeted humiliation, with the perpetrators remarking that he ought to just die. In a calculated attempt to stage a fatal accident, the accused allegedly tampered with the house’s piped natural gas (PNG) connection.
The family was eventually rescued through police intervention. Investigations have since revealed a deeper plot, with the matchmaker, Munna Master, reportedly confessing to hatching a deliberate conspiracy to arrange the marriage specifically for the purpose of extortion. Muskan has further alleged that Kalpana and her family continue to loiter around their home, sustaining an environment of fear through persistent threats. The Uttar Pradesh Police have officially registered a case and are currently investigating the multifaceted allegations of fraud, intimidation, and attempted harm that have replaced a supposed love story in the heart of Agra.
